Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
At Cipher, your privacy isn't negotiable. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.
1. Information we collect
When you sign up for the waitlist, we collect your first name, email address and language, to confirm your address, generate your personal access code and notify you when the app launches. If you join Cipher through an invite, we record the code of the person who invited you. To protect the service from abuse, we use a bot check and temporarily keep an encrypted fingerprint of your IP address, never the address itself.
When using the Cipher app (at launch), we may collect: your phone number (account verification), your profile photos, your approximate location (for the Nights and Groups modes), and your dating preferences.
2. How we use your data
- Generate your access code and notify you at launch
- Verify the authenticity of profiles
- Suggest relevant matches and features
- Keep the community safe (reports, moderation)
3. Data sharing
We never sell your personal data to third parties. Your information is only shared with the technical providers essential to running the service, under strict confidentiality agreements: Cloudflare (hosting, database and bot check) and Google (email delivery through Gmail).
4. Cipher Nights and ephemeral data
Content posted within Cipher Nights (statuses, Vibe Points, night-out photos) is automatically deleted from our servers every morning. Screenshots are technically blocked in this mode to protect users' privacy.
5. Security
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to our systems is strictly limited to the Cipher team as needed for their roles.
6. Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at [email protected].
